Sometimes when you look at your bank statement, you'll spot a card payment to a company or organisation with a name you don't recognise.

Often this is because they have trading names that are different to the name you are used to seeing. 

You can try searching the name that appears on your statement online or checking our list below, and you should also:

• Think about whether you recognise the amount but not the company name
• Think back over the payments that you have made recently – could this relate to something you have purchased?
